Tackle climate change as an organisation

Every organisation has its own mission. But all organisations can pursue that mission in a way that helps to bring about a low-carbon future.

Charities and churches do this because climate change impacts their core aims. For example, relief agencies see how climate change impacts people in poor countries. Churches see how it harms God's creation and hurts their neighbours.

Forward-thinking businesses will be concerned about the future of the planet, but will also adapt to climate change to maximise their value. Opportunities include increased revenues from low-carbon products, cost savings, efficiency gains, better risk management, and improved reputation. A McKinsey report says: ‘The winners will be companies that reposition to seize the opportunities of a low-carbon future.’

A typical organisational strategy will have three strands:

  1. Within existing strategies act fast to reduce emissions wherever possible, and offset what remains
  2. Develop a new vision of the organisation within a low-carbon future and a strategy to take it there
  3. Be an enthusiastic advocate for urgent action towards better living on low-carbon to staff, customers, suppliers and supporters

Climate Stewards has worked with a number of large and small organisations and would love to talk to you. As a charity we do not charge commercial rates, but we do aim to meet the highest standards of efficiency and professionalism. Please use the form (left) to contact us.
