Colossians 1:17 |
Jesus said the two most important commandments are to love God with everything we have, and to love our neighbours as ourselves.
This world belongs to God. He made it and holds it together. If we love God, we should not carelessly allow climate change to damage the world which is precious to Him.
The people who will be hit worst by climate change are those who already live in poverty. They rely on regular rains to grow their crops. They can't afford rising food prices. They have no insurance. If we love our neighbours, we should not destroy their lives by the way we live.
Dr Matthew Sleeth is the author of 'Serve God, Save the Planet' and Outreach Director of A Rocha USA. Here he explains what it means to love our neighbours as he tells the story of the Good Samaritan.
