Christians and CO2

This wonderful world is God's handiwork

This wonderful world is God's handiwork. He made it and holds it together.

One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, ‘Of all the commandments, which is the most important?’

‘The most important one,’ answered Jesus, ‘is this: “Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” The second is this: “Love your neighbour as yourself.” There is no greater commandment than these.’ (Mark 12:28-31)

Climate Stewards believes that this wonderful world is God’s handiwork. He made it and holds it together.

It is part of our love for God – the most important commandment – that we should not carelessly damage what he has made by allowing global warming to spiral.

Climate Stewards also recognizes that across the world we have millions of needy neighbours. Every day they depend on the land and seasons for their lives.

It is part of our love for our neighbours – the second commandment – that we should not destroy their livelihood by the ways we choose to live.

Being responsible about CO2 emissions is part of loving God and loving our neighbours.
